Day Care Facilities

For children of University Staff (Teaching, Non-Teaching - Regular & Temporary Staff & Students UG/PG/Ph.D)

The Day Care Centre is functioning since 2002, with a support grant of Rs. 2.00 lakhs from the University Grants Commission to cater to the needs of the women faculty and research students, which enables a stress-free working environment. Children aged 1-12 years are cared for in these day-care centres. A new premise was established for the Day Care Centre at Main Campus with a funding of Rs. 25 lahks. The extension was initiated at the MIT campus in 2009 with support from the UGC.

The Day Care Centre in the Main campus was started in the year 2002 with an aim of catering to the day care needs of the children of staff of Anna University of four campuses of Anna University viz. College of Engineering Guindy campus, Alagappa College of Technology abd School of Architecture and Planning Chennai – 600025 and Madras Institute of Technology Campus, Anna University, Chennai – 600044. Children from the age group of 1 – 13 years are taken care of in the Centre. The centre’s working hour is from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm. The Centre has at present 14 children. Day Care Centre, MIT Campus was started in the year. There are about 12 children in this centre.

A very nominal fees is collected from the staff and students. The staff includes teaching, non-teaching, administrative staff, research scholars and married post graduate students. The facility is extended to the staff, according to the duration they prefer, the children avail the service ranging from full day care (8.30 am to 5.30 pm), half day care (12.00 pm to 5.00 pm), or after school hours (3.00 pm to 5.30 pm) and one day care.The centre is equipped with air-conditioners, Microwave Oven, refrigerator, cots, play materials both indoor and outdoor play materials such as slides, swings, Jumble Gym, Merry go round, Children toy cars, toy scooters and other toys. For encouraging reading habits, there is a children library stocked with moral story books, encyclopaedia etc. There is adequate play area for the children. The children are taken utmost care by the staff of Day Care Centre.

The children are engaged in activities like reading and painting in the Centre. The Centre also conducts Competitions for the children periodically like Drawing competition and other games. In the Day Care Centre, Main campus, there are three lady staff members and two lady staff members in MIT Campus attending to the needs of the children.

The functioning of the Day Care Centres in CEG Campus and MIT Campus enables the women staff, research scholars and married PG students to focus on their career and job which in turn help in their economic empowerment.Beneficiaries of the Centre are Teaching, non-teaching, administrative, technical staff, research scholars and married PG students of all the four campuses in Anna University.

Establishment of new premises for Day Care Centre, Main campus

A new building has been constructed for the functioning of Day Care Centre, main campus. The new building was inaugurated by our Vice-Chancellor on 1.9.2021.

The Centre has started functioning in the new premises from the month of September 2021.
