Reduce Plastic Waste

Single Use Plastic has been banned in the campus, which has reduced the generation of plastic waste in campus from the year 2018.The use of plastic products such as take-away coffee cup, lunch wrapped in disposal plastic packaging, plastic bags, disposable foodservice cups, plates and containers made in polystyrene foam, plastic straws etc., in all departments, stationary shops and canteens were reduced. In addition to this, usage of alternate materials to single use plastics were encouraged in campus. Further, the plastic wastes were collected in separate color coded bins and disposed through vendors, so that such wastes were neither disposed on land nor mixed with wet/garden waste. The Academic and Administrative blocks, Garden and landscaping areas and water bodies have been declared as“PLASTIC FREE ZONES” by displaying placards and are maintained.
