Aquatic Ecosystems- Conservation and Sustainable Utilization
Anna University has organised various events aimed to promote conservation and sustainable utilisation of the oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and marine resources. The Centre for Environmental Studies has organised an International Conference on “Concerns and Threats of Microbial Contamination in Aquatic Ecosystems – Sustainable Restoration Techniques” to promote the conservation of aquatic ecosystems. The Institute for Ocean Management (IOM) has delivered a presentation on “Marine Pollution and Prevention” for the Eco-club students of Brotherhood Matric Higher Secondary School to create awareness on conservation and sustainable utilisation of the ocean resources. Department of Geology organised the workshop on “Sustainable Management of Groundwater” is dedicated to exploring effective strategies and approaches for preserving and utilizing groundwater resources.

IOM EIACP PC RP is invited by Eco-club of Brotherhood Matric Higher Secondary School, Neelankarai, Chennai to deliver a presentation on “Marine Pollution and Prevention”. Our EIACP PC RP team and the Intern of our IOM distributed the questionnaire to create awareness about plastic pollution to the school students.

One Day Workshop was held on 26.05.2023 under the specified topic of “Sustainable Management of Groundwater” is dedicated to exploring effective strategies and approaches for preserving and utilizing groundwater resources responsibly. In this workshop, the experts gave the lecture on Frame work for Sustainable Groundwater Management, Real-time Data Acquisition for Efficient Aquifer Management, Assessing Groundwater Potential using Remote Sensing and GIS, Research Methods in Hydrogeology and Groundwater Modelling, Managed Aquifer Systems for Sustainable Use and Submarine Groundwater Discharge (SGD) Processes and Identification.
