Local Aquatic Ecosystem Planning and Maintenance
In Anna University, the wastewater from hostels, departments and the administrative buildings are collected and treated in the Sewage treatment plant. The treated wastewater is recycled for university garden. Hence, no effluent discharge of wastewater is allowed into the Adyar River which is running adjacent to the campus. Centre for Water Resources, Anna University in association with Fisheries Department and the Fisheries University, maintains water quality indicators.

Monitoring and Evaluation of Tamil Nadu irrigated Agriculture Modernization (TNIAM) Project:
Anna University monitors the water quality analysis carried out in the irrigation tanks (long and short seasonal) and farm ponds, wherever the fisheries activities were progressed. The Centre for Water Resources (CWR), Anna University in association with Fisheries Department and the Fisheries University, develops and maintains water quality indicators by conducting analysis and publishing the results as shown in the table. If water quality is not upto the standards for fisheries, appropriate remedial measures will be taken as a stewardship measure.
