SDG 14: Life below water

Aquatic Ecosystems Through Education

Anna University offers educational programmes on freshwater ecosystems through curriculum and syllabus for Surface and Ground Water Management Practices through advanced technologies along with practical knowledge. The Centre for Water Resources (CWR) offers PG courses in M.E. Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering and Irrigation Water Management. The Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) offers PG courses in M.E. Environmental Engineering and Environmental Management. The Institute of Remote Sensing (IRS) offers UG course in B.E. Geoinformatics and PG course in M.E. Remote Sensing and Geomatics. Institute for Ocean Management (IOM) celebrates important environmental days covering SDG 14 (Life below Water). In this regard, IOM has conducted several educational programmes on freshwater ecosystems for various schools and organisations. To give awareness to local communities, IOM has conducted field surveys related to water quality. Apart from these, IOM creates and uploads knowledge products under the “Kids Corner” and “Poster” sections and also prepares thematic maps and information based on SDG 14 covering water conservation practices, which are uploaded to the official website of IOM EIACP.
